Semester and Year Programs
The semester and year-long programs are designed for college students seeking a formative academic period of study in Israel. In some cases, outstanding freshmen candidates will be considered for acceptance, as will graduating high school students seeking a gap year experience.
Students study Hebrew language, in addition to choosing from a variety of English-taught courses in Jewish and Israel studies, political science, history, anthropology, Arabic, arts and literature, global health, and ecology.
You may also enroll in courses in a number of academic disciplines that are offered in English by other departments. These offerings change from semester to semester. Check our Web site regularly for updates. Students who have adequate knowledge of Hebrew are welcome to enroll in any undergraduate class offered in Hebrew.
Coursework may be complemented by internships, independent study and volunteer opportunities. During the course of the semester, you are required to enroll in four courses, in addition to a mandatory Hebrew language course.

Brandeis University/Middlebury Program in Israel
This semester or year long program is designed for students with an advanced knowledge of Hebrew. All courses – including content and area studies – are taught in Hebrew by local faculty from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Students enroll in a combination of language and content courses; Modern Hebrew and two electives courses on Israeli and Middle Eastern culture, religion, or politics. All classes engage students in a variety language skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking). Students adhere to the Middlebury College Language Pledge and are housed with Israeli roommates.
