Ulpan (Intensive Hebrew Study Program)
Hebrew language study is a critical component of OSP.
The ulpan is an intensive immersive Hebrew language course that can be taken for either a four- or six-week period during the summer or winter. It is mandatory for all year and semester students. It incorporates a traditional curriculum of reading, writing and conversation skills with media, such as Israeli music, newspapers, movies, radio, as well as field trips.
The course meets for four hours daily, Sunday through Thursday. Students are placed in an appropriate level based on results of a written exam prior to departure and an oral exam upon arrival. There are many levels of Hebrew offered in the ulpan from very basic to extremely advanced.
Summer and winter ulpans are available and open to all. Registration in academic programs is not necessary.
