Host Families

Bookmark and Share

You are encouraged to take advantage of the hospitality for which Israelis are famous by enjoying the experience of an "adopted" family during your semester or year in Israel. Many families living near the University welcome international students into their homes, providing you with the comfort of a “home away from home.”

A typical visit might include mint tea and home-baked cakes, tales of the family and country’s history, or just relaxing in front of the television. In every case, the experience allows you a unique opportunity to learn more about Israeli society and the issues that affect its citizens and the potential to build lifelong friendships.

The relationship is designed to be informal; you can visit your host family from once a week to once a semester, depending on your desire. Notify the OSP staff during the orientation or ulpan period if you are interested in being “adopted.”
