Planned Gifts

Finding the right planned giving vehicle depends on a number of factors, including your age and marital status, the size of your estate and income level. Additional factors may include current or future income needs, applicable income and estate tax deductions and the desire to provide for additional family members.

After considering these factors and discussing them with your attorney or tax advisor, you may wish to explore one or more of these options:

Bequest: Leaving a gift to AABGU on behalf of Ben-Gurion University in a will or trust is the most common type of planned gift. Charitable bequests are easy to make. There are no minimum dollar requirements or complex rules to understand. You may leave a designated amount for restricted use that coincides with your educational and research interests, or leave the funds undesignated, allowing the University to use them where they're needed most.

Life Insurance: Naming AABGU as your beneficiary in a life insurance policy is an easy and cost-efficient way to provide a meaningful gift that will have long-lasting impact on the University.

Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA): A CGA is best suited for individuals 65 years of age or older. As you age, payout rates – and the tax-free portion of each payment – increase. AABGU also offers deferred payment CGAs with attractive payout rates and deductions for younger supporters who are willing to wait until age 65 to begin receiving annuity payments. An income tax charitable deduction is available in the year the annuity is funded.

Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust (CRAT): A CRAT enables supporters to bypass capital gains taxes and receive an annual income. In addition, an income tax charitable deduction is available in the year the annuity is funded.

Donors who participate in any one or more of these planned giving options become members of AABGU's Heritage Society.
