Air Arrangements:
Program rates do not include international airfare. Because there are a number of flight options available, there is no required group flight for either tour.
Tunisia tour: AABGU has negotiated a group rate on Alitalia for the New York-Tunis (via Rome) and Tunis-Tel Aviv (via Rome) legs of the tour, with the possibility of adding on Tel Aviv-New York. While you are welcome to book your own flights on other carriers, you cannot utilize the group rate for only the Tunis-Tel Aviv leg because the negotiated rate requires flying Alitalia New York-Tunis. Please also be advised that although there are other carriers with routing from Tunis to Tel Aviv, Alitalia is the only one with a flight schedule that is appropriate for the AABGU tours. To learn more about the group rate and other options, contact Jeanne Darbouze at Gil Travel in Philadelphia: jeanned@giltravel.com or 1-800-223-3855 x369.
If you wish to book your own flights, be advised that on Thursday, April 29 the main program will begin in Tunis with dinner at approximately 7:00 p.m. Optional light touring will be available in the afternoon for those who have already arrived. It is therefore recommended you land in Tunis on the morning of April 29. Private pick-up at the Tunis airport by an English-speaking driver will be provided regardless of your flight arrangements. Similarly, private drop-off at the Tunis airport will be provided for those not continuing to Israel at the end of the tour. Flights on Wednesday, May 5 can depart from Tunis at whatever hour you like.
Culinary tour: If you are not arriving to Israel with the group from Tunisia it is recommended that you arrive to Tel Aviv no later than 2:30 p.m. The welcome program preceding dinner will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m. at the hotel in Tel Aviv. For those departing Israel on Sunday, May 9, you can make your flight at whatever time you like since the formal tour programming ends on the night of Saturday, May 8. The hotel on the night of May 8 and breakfast the next morning are included in the tour cost.
