Brain Imaging Research Center (BIRC)

The brain is the seat of human consciousness. It guides our perceptions and governs our interpretation of the world around us. When the human mind is compromised – by disease, unexplained disorders or learning disabilities – our quality of life suffers.

Working together with BGU's Zlotowski Center for Neuroscience, the BIRC studies both the normal and diseased brain with neuroimaging equipment. Researchers seek to understand how brain structures vary between individuals and how this relates to different behaviors.

Linking information about brain function to brain structure, BGU researchers are beginning to understand the brain basis of the mind, leading to new insights into fundamental problems such as the nature of consciousness, but also toward developing new treatments and, possibly, cures for diseases like epilepsy, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

Blessed with one of the strongest cognitive neuroscience groups in Israel, BGU needs your support to maintain its competitive advantage.
